Here's a little sneak peek of my Vanellope cosplay! This was a hall shot taken at ALA and it turned out so well, I got permission to post it here on dA. I had so much fun making this costume, even though the skirt was an absolute pain at times (but it was all worth it because I love my fabric - it looks just like Reese's cup paper!!!) My mom and I worked on the candy together during Christmas break, and that was great fun. I love this movie, and I love this character, so while it might be a bit of fad by now, I think this was a great costume for me personally to begin the new year.

Your costume is so perfect! You make an adorable Vanellope! ^__^ Did you make the hoodie yourself or did you buy it somewhere?

Thank you very much!

I actually bought a plain white sweatshirt and dyed it with my leggings so they would match, then I added the red cord and the red stitching over the pocket.

Okay. Where did you get the fabric for the skirt/what kind of fabric is that? I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a solution D:

It's a silky fabric I found just browsing JoAnn's. It's sort of shiny, with set-in wrinkles, thin and flowy. I interfaced the heck out of it to get it so stiff.

Ooooh, okay. I think I know what fabric you're talking about. What thickness/type of interfacing did you use? Did you just iron it?

I don't really know. I picked interfacing that felt to be the stiffness I wanted, and then ironed the pleats.
