Glow in the Dark Stars in my Stairwell
Ever since I was small enough to reenact Little Foot and co. with my miniature peeps on the playground, I could never choose who I wanted to be
The Superman or the Lois Lane,
The Spiderman or the Mary Jane.
The savior or the saved.
But it didn't matter then so I just played.
To this day I still don't know if I want my scales to balance or tip.
To sail a different ship.
To ship a ship and make myself and I my OTP.
Scrolling through the endless windows of my life,
Watching friends come and go,
And wishing some of my favorites could leave with slaps across their faces
Because of how they, so to speak,
Bit me with their teething
Why do I always paint myself in a corner?
The paint smells funky
And I have to go to the bathroom
I seem to do it every time.
Focus, Distraction, Focus, Distraction
Until all I can see are two walls and no escape.
Why do I refuse my own happiness?
Why must I inhale all these fumes
Of disappointment
Of self-loathing
Of mediocrity
My friends are not crutches
They're not canes
They're not chairs.
I'm not Goldilocks
And they're not the three bears.
Eating their food, trashing their furniture, and sleepin' in their sheets
Nuh uh.
That is noooo good.
My choices
My decisions
My mistakes.
They've led me here
And dropped me alon
A Sonnet to Who?
If you keep looking, Whos you just might find.
Indeed! Theyre very small but are they there!
Who persons are slight but their hearts are kind.
All gladly, for a Who in need, they care.
Upon a speck they reside in Whoville.
Their Mayor, Ned, an elephant he meets
Who vows to bring their home to safe Nool Hill
To end the tremors in their city streets.
The angry mob looks at Horton in fear
To talk to specks, it is insanity
The Whos speak up; loudly shout, We are here!
But when all hope is lost, one Yopp! breaks free.
Yet if you cant see or hear them at all,
People are people no m
First Blaze
A girl splashes through the wildflowers
Fleeing her confining shadow
Lights twinkle in her eyes
Smiles glimmer across her face
Under her gentle steps, leaves crackle
Dewdrops shatter at her touch
She must dance alone, alone
Imagines she a most fanciful partner
First flame of Autumn dreaming
First fire of a season of believing
Stars fall through the trees
First blaze of honest fairy tales
I want to scream
But there is no way to repair the seam
That has ripped
And torn
With sadness
And scorn
Why do I wander by myself?
Spinning in circles shouting silently to the stars that don't care.
No matter how loud the music plays
It cannot drown out the anger and hurt
Do you think my tears are empty?
Do you know they are real?
How many times has talking not worked?
How much more will screaming hurt?
WHY CAN'T YOU HEAR ME?!
HEY! LISTEN!
Don't swat,
And bat,
And avoid,
And push,
And shove,
And crush.
The letter means I love you.
Have you forgotten?
Have you all forgotten?
Of course you have.
No one wa
